Requirements:
Goal: Students should master the application of architectural, construction and acoustical principles, as well as the implementation of current solutions in the field of designing contemporary audio and television studios, through sublimation and improvement of knowledge and skills acquired in basic vocational studies.
Outcome: At the end of the course students will master the modern techniques of designing audio and TV studios, its construction and acoustic treatment, the proper choice and connection of studio equipment, and will be able to analyze and prepare all the necessary technical documentation in the design process.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Historical development of studios as a building-technological unit.
  2. Building construction of studios. Industrial standards and legal regulations.
  3. Development and proper interpretation of the project task. Energy installations.
  4. Sound isolation of studio spaces.
  5. Interiors-acoustic processing of studio spaces, disposition and design of studio furniture, principle of ergonomics.
  6. Block diagram, drawing and tracking the signal flow through audio, video and network installations.
  7. Audio studio. Selection, pre-measurement and budget calculation of audio studio equipment.
  8. Comparative analysis of technical characteristics and price/quality ratio.
  9. Signal flow, wiring and earthing of the studio system.
  10. Analysis of the current state and trends in the market of audio studio equipment.
  11. Comparative analysis of audio studio systems of different purposes.
  12. TV studio. Analysis of different types of video systems, programs and standards in broadcasting.
  13. Selection, pre-measurement and budget calculation of video studio equipment. Comparative analysis of technical characteristics and price/quality ratio.
  14. Analysis of the current state and trends in the market of video studio equipment. Comparative analysis of video studio systems of different purposes.
  15. Finalyzed state of the audio and video studio project - case studies.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Laboratory exercises fully follow and through practical work illustrate the contents of the theoretical teaching. In the course of the exercise, students are introduced to the basics of AutoCAD, measuring procedures in the studio, as well as with the complete process of designing project documentation in accordance with the standards.
