Goal:Introduction to fundamental characteristics of various electronic components. Intorduction to fundamental principles of analyzing electronic circuits.
Outcome:Gaining knowledge needed for successful study of other specialized courses in the field of electronics. Acquiring basic skills needed for the work with laboratory instrumentation.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
Physical basis of electronics. Electrical characteristics of solids. PN junction. Metals, insulators and semiconductors. Metal-semiconductor junction.
Basic elements of electronic circuits and systems. One-port elements and multi-port elements. Active and passive elements. Resistance, inductance and capacitance.
Diode.Classification, working principles, operation regimes, the current-voltage characteristics.
Dynamic characteristics of didoes. Zener diodes, tunnel diode, Schottky diode and photodiodes.
Colloquium.
Bipolar transistors. Working principles, operation regimes, static characteristics. Limits of operation. Transistor Biasing.
Analysis of circuits with bipolar transistors. Common emitter, common collector and common base amplifier. Small signal parameters.
Field effect transistors. Working principles, operation regimes, static characteristics. NMOS and PMOS transistors, Biasing of field effect transistors.
Analysis of circuits with field effect transistors. Small signal model. Common source, common drain and common gate amplifier.
Current sources and active loads.
Voltage regulators.
Thyristors.Two terminals and three terminals thyristors.
