Requirements:Knowledge of the basic electronic communications terms
Goal:Course objective is to acquaint students with legislation and regulations in the field of electronic communications.
Outcome:After completion of the course, students will have the necessary knowledge of the applicable national regulations related to the field of electronic communications, the regulatory challenges caused by the accelerated development of new technologies and services, as well as organizations dealing with regulations in this field
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
Introduction. Significance, objectives, principles and structure of regulations.
International organizations and national regulatory bodies.
Legislation and regulatory framework of the EU (directives, standards and recommendations).
Electronic Communications Law (principles, objectives, scope) and relationship with International regulations.
Rules that specify in detail certain areas in the field of electronic communications
Regulation of electronic communications networks I (broadcasting and wireless).
Regulation of electronic communications networks II (cable and optical).
Radio frequency spectrum - RF spectrum management, Allocation Plan, Allotment Plan, use and control of RF spectrum.
The regulation of electronic communications services using the RF spectrum.
Regulation of other electronic communications services.
Numeration and number portability.
Universal service
Coordination of electronic communications regulations with other regulations in order to ensure protection of users' rights, confidentiality of electronic communications, legal interception and data retention
