Goal: The goal of this course is to familiarize students with the basic principles of working in post-production and animation of both static pictures, and video material. It also covers the specifics of the preparation and planning of the entire production process of shooting for special effects and digital post-production.
Outcome: Students will have the opportunity to learn the basics of multimedia post-production on the given examples and tasks, as well as their video works created as exercises in other courses during the study. They will be able to realize multimedia projects that meet aesthetic and professional criteria in the field of computer-generated images, as well as to create their multimedia portfolio (Demo reel).
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Abstract form and narrative in video. Idea, script story-boarding, filming, VFX.
  2. Projects – research and development as the first step in the realization of a multimedia work.Film language and editing.
  3. Specifics of short videos – artistic video, jingle, advertising etc.
  4. Special effects in static pictures.
  5. Animating text. Special effects on text.
  6. Effects in video materials. Preparations, organisation, specifics.
  7. Preparations and organization of a team project – pipeline, timetable, individual tasks, deadlines, interdependence between team members.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Introduction to Adobe After Effects software, interface, basic tools and attributes, compositions.
  2. Basic tools for animation in Adobe After Effects, attributes and animation process.
  3. 3D layers and text animation. Effects on text.
  4. Effects on static pictures, filters, layers, color correction, animation.
  5. Effects on static pictures, movement parallax, displacement map.
  6. Filming for effects. Keying, masking green screen- and/or blue screen from video material. Brushes, drawing deformers, animating on static picture.
  7. The inclusion of the cut material with a static image as background. Deformations and textures on video material. Keying, color corrections.
  8. Cameras camera tracking.
  9. Creating effects without external data.
  10. Exporting material. Render preparations, formats, rendering.
