Requirements: Process control
Goal: The aim of this course is that students learn how to synthesize previously acquired knowledge and skills in order to independently design and implement automated systems for control and process control
Outcome: Students will learn how to design, select components, and implement automated control systems. In addition, they will learn how to implement a remote monitoring and data collection system for a controlled process.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Process diagrams - PFD.
  2. Process diagrams - P & ID.
  3. Electric schemes.
  4. Measures of protection of the automatic control system.
  5. Project development process and preparation of technical documentation.
  6. Open-loop systems.
  7. Closed-loop systems.
  8. PID regulators. Protection against winding integral effect.
  9. Application of programmable logic controllers in control systems. Repetition Of the theory.
  10. Additional modules of the PLC device.
  11. Decentralized control systems and the repetition of the SCADA system theory.
  12. SCADA systems, HMI devices.
  13. Connecting of PLC devices and operator panels to the local network.
  14. Access to the PLC devices from remote locations.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Students independently with the supervision of teachers in the hardware laboratory perform designing and realization of small and medium automatic control systems (conveyor belt system, automatic parking system, speed control with the position of the AC motor, control of temperature processes and air flow control). The formation of an electrical scheme of the system, then selection of components and realization of the hardware part of the system is carried out. Finally, the implementation of PLC system of control and monitoring system on operator panels is done.
