Goal: Studying the construction and mechatronics of modern automatic transmissions with special emphasis on promising technical solutions that result in an increase in the effectiveness of the system.
Outcome: Students are trained to diagnose fails and maintain all kinds of automatic transmissions by acquiring basic knowledge in the field of research, design and development of mechatronics systems.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Basic concepts of automatic transmissions
  2. Ideal traction hyperbola
  3. The role and job of transmission in motor vehicles
  4. Planetary gearboxes
  5. Friction transmissions
  6. Hydrostatic transmissions
  7. Hydrodynamic power transmissions
  8. Hydrodynamic mechanical transmissions
  9. Electro-hydraulic control systems
  10. Characteristic solutions of automatic gearboxes
  11. Application of automatic transmissions on hybrid vehicles
  12. Automation of synchronized gear transmissions
  13. Development of control algorithms – primitive artificial intelligence
  14. Controlling automatic transmissions using fuzzy logic
  15. The future of automatic gearboxes within the development and implementation of information and expert systems
