Requirements:
Goal: Getting acquainted with professional technologies and techniques for designing publications.
Outcome: The student will be qualified for professional design and preparation for the printing of graphic and publishing products
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Concepts and terminology, historical and technological review of publishing.
  2. Digital publishing technologies, textual and visual elements, formats.
  3. Typography, typography history, typography in the digital world.
  4. Programs for reviewing, controlling and working with text. Programs for the design of publications.
  5. Illustration and Graphic Design.
  6. Letters, text and the design of the publication.
  7. Picture in digital publishing, technological and production determinants, formats and exchanges.
  8. Working in a program for preparing photo and graphic material, photo editing, effects and corrections.
  9. Graphic design of small forms and logos.
  10. Graphic design of paper products and large formats.
  11. Graphic design of paper products and large formats.
  12. Electronic Publishing - History, Contemporary Practice and Perspectives.
  13. Printing Technology.
  14. POD technology (print on demand, prerequisites and practice).
  15. Accompanying documentation of the digital design and publishing.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Laboratory: Introduction and work in programs for preparation and processing of texts.
  2. Laboratory: Testing and selecting text and writing material for the exercise.
  3. Laboratory: Illustration program. Site and presentation design.
  4. Studio - Exterior: Photographing for the design of the publication.
  5. Laboratory: Photo material processing and photo editing.
  6. Laboratory: Work in the program for graphic design and text editing.
  7. Laboratory: Work in the program for graphic design and text editing - finalization of the exercise.
