Requirements: Basic knowledge in the field of e-business.
Goal: The aim of the course is to acquire basic knowledge about new principles and methods of banking operations that arise as a result of the interdependence between the economy and information- communication technologies.
Outcome: Students will round out a picture of the entire up-to-date banking business, become qualified for the implementation of the most complex banking transactions and be in the process of keeping up with the latest world achievements in this field.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Security on the Internet - the problem of privacy of information on the Internet.
  2. Classification of payment cards with respect to the way: (a) settlement of obligations, (b) technology of production, (c) mode of communication.
  3. Vertical classification of payment cards. The world's largest card brands.
  4. Electronic banking (ATM devices, EFT/POS terminals, home banking).
  5. Types of electronic banking services.
  6. Internet banking.
  7. Mobile banking applications. Using mobile phones for payment purposes.
  8. Payment systems based on NFC technology - Google Wallet Mobile Payment System.
  9. Electronic money - micro-payment systems.
  10. Payment systems over the Internet. First/second generation of payment systems.
  11. Worldwide payment providers. Comparison of payment systems.
  12. Electronic payment systems and networks of interbank communications.
  13. Automatic clearing systems, switshing centers, SWIFT.
  14. Final considerations. Self-evaluation, case study.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Exercises are held in the laboratory. During the laboratory exercises, students acquire applied knowledge and practical skills in the field of the application of electronic banking technologies.
