Requirements:
Goal: The aim of this module is mastering basic theories and application of electrical machine to modern vehicles.
Outcome: After successful completion of this module student shall be qualified to perform fidelity test of various electrical devices in vehicles.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Fundamentals of DC machines.
  2. Construction, working principle and basic types of starters for passenger and commercial vehicles.
  3. Communication and osciloscopic measurement system in the led acid battery - starter.
  4. Basics of synchronous machines.
  5. Construction, working principle and basic types of alternators for passenger and commercial vehicles.
  6. Communication and osciloskopska measurements in the system battery - the alternator.
  7. Basics of induction machines and perspektrive applied to hybrid and electric vehicles.
  8. Hybrid vehicles – working principle, operating modes, the start- stop function, hybrid configuration and drives.
  9. Electronic systems for hybrid control (electric power control systems, operating the internal combustion engine, electric drive systems for power transmission and brake system) .
  10. Electrical machines in hybrid vehicles ( specific construction , the operation management of various manufacturers of hybrid vehicles : Toyota Prius , Lexus LS , Mercedes Benz S400 , Honda Accord , VW Touareg Hybrid, BMW 7 series F04 , ... ) .
  11. Inverters - construction, working principle and characteristics of hybrid vehicles various manufacturers.
  12. Electrical systems for hybrid vehicles (electric system for vehicles with start- stop system, electric system for medium and strong hybrid vehicle).
  13. Diagnostic measurements on hybrid vehicles.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Tutorials are performed in vehicle laboratory on vehicles with active students’ engagement. Students independently or with the help of the lecturer solve the tasks in the area of electrical machines on both standard and hybrid vehicles. Solve specific tasks based on the set of exercises from Practicum.
