Goal: Introduction to the technologies and services that use internet protocols for the transfer of multimedia content
Outcome: Acquiring knowledge necessary for understanding the principles of functioning of transmission of multimedia content by IP technology
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. The architecture of the IP system.
  2. Digital processing of speech signal. Telephone signals. Bit rate of telephone signals.
  3. Speech and video transmission over IP technologies. Internet protocols: TCP, UDP, ARP, DNS, RTP, RCP, SCTP.
  4. IP QoS control mechanisms.
  5. IP multimedia subsystems (IMS).
  6. VoIP software. Protocol architecture for VoIP.
  7. Audio over IP (AoIP). Voice over IP (VoIP).
  8. Codes and standards (G711, G726, G729, G723).
  9. Digitization of video signals.
  10. Compression of still and moving images: JPEG, MPEG4, HEVC/H265, H.26H ...
  11. Implementation of standards for transmission and compression of audio and video signals over the Internet and wireless networks: H.26H, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 i MPEG-4.
  12. Video telephone and video conferencing of video and audio over the Internet.
  13. Integration of TV systems and Internet technology (IPTV).
  14. Internet TV. Hybrid TV. Web TV.
  15. Multimedia services over IP.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Practical exercises are followed by lectures with the realization of specific tasks. Getting to know the structure of signal messages. Getting to know the connection process. Creating a corporate telephone network project. Creation of multimedia interactive projects in HD TV studio, working with various video devices and compression algorithms and transfer of audio and video over the Internet.
