Goal: Introduction to the basics and technologies of word processing, audio, image, video, animation and merging into multimedia product.
Outcome: A student will be trained to combine multimedia content into multimedia work.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Digital and multimedia concepts and terminology, historical and technological overview of multimedia disciplines.
  2. Multimedia contents and forms, preparation of simple materials.
  3. Preparation, organization and production of simple MM products (text, audio, picture).
  4. Basics of photography and processing of digital images. Formats and compression.
  5. Basics of photomontage.
  6. The basics of multimedia sound. Shooting noise and dialogue. Digital audio processing. Formats, recording and compression of digital audio
  7. Fundamentals of the preparation and processing of MM text. Basics of typography. Text formats.
  8. Infographics, subtitle and animation of the text in the multimedia.
  9. Digital Video Basics. Formats, recording and video compression.
  10. The basics of video editing.
  11. Programs and procedures for processing, editing, sharing and archiving video materials.
  12. Animation and computer animation in the multimedia part.
  13. Fundamentals of digital composite technology and color correction.
  14. Project documentation and dramaturgy of multimedia presentation.
  15. Historical and contemporary aspects of multimedia. Perspectives of multimedia creativity.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Getting to know and working in word processing programs.
  2. Exercise: Text and photo self-portrait.
  3. Laboratory: a photo processing program.
  4. Laboratory: program for creating MM presentations.
  5. Exercise: Design of three-sided personal multimedia presentations.
  6. Laboratory: a sound processing program.
  7. Laboratory: preparation of MM sound for the final exercise
  8. Laboratory: design of MM text, typography and animation.
  9. Laboratory: preparing a digital image for the final exercise
  10. Laboratory: preparing a digital video for a fusion exercise.
  11. Laboratory: assembly of individual AV contents.
  12. Laboratory: preparation and organization of project documentation.
  13. Laboratory: creation of final multimedia presentation.
