Requirements:
Goal: The goal of the course is to train students to understand, implement and manage data protection procedures in the computing, communications and other business systems. Students should be trained to carry out risk analysis, and to explain to users of the system the importance of applying policies and data protection procedures.
Outcome: Students are trained to apply data protection procedures, they are familiar with security mechanisms and data security services.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Introduction (review of the field, terminology, motivation).
  2. Steganography.
  3. Classic data encryption systems.
  4. Symmetric cryptosystems.
  5. Public key cryptosystems.
  6. Hash functions.
  7. Digital signature.
  8. Public key infrastructure.
  9. Access control - authentication.
  10. Authentication protocols.
  11. Access control - authorization.
  12. Software security.
  13. Operating systems security.
  14. Hardware security.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Follows theoretical lessons. Includes analysis of encryption systems, cryptographic keys generation and application, hash functions, digital signatures, security-oriented software analysis.
