Project objectives

The main objective of the project Implementation of the Digital Broadcasting and Broadband Technologies (Master Studies) is the design, accreditation and establishment of high-quality master studies in this field in the Western Balkans region. The project has identified the lack of experts in this area and means staff training for the digitization and maintenance of digital communications systems, as well as the introduction of new digital broadcasting systems and broadband technologies in line with the needs of today's employers.

The role of VISER on the project

School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Applied Studies (VISER) participates in the project as a partner who has the tradition of educating bachelor engineers in the field of audio and video technologies on basic and applied studies. The role of VISER is to exchange knowledge and experience with partners from higher education institutions and economies in the Western Balkans and higher education institutions in the European Union in the field of digital broadcasting and broadband technologies and to develop and implement a new, contemporary study program in this field at the second level of studies - master applied studies. Master applied studies will contribute to the education and training of students in the field of digitization, maintenance of digital systems, as well as the introduction of new broadband and broadcasting technologies. The program's goal is in line with the needs and market development, which is constantly striving to increase digital content and enhance possible multimedia services.

Main results of the project for VISER

Within the project and on the basis of cooperation with partners on the project, VISER designed, accredited and established applied studies for Multimedia Engineering. The duration of the studies is two years and carries 120 ECTS points. The program provides student education for jobs in the field of multimedia and modern communication technologies and digital television. The aim of the program is to train students for advanced maintenance, exploitation and installation of multimedia and communication subsystems and systems, which is reflected in the ability to quickly and efficiently solve specific practical problems in this field, as well as training for independent monitoring of the development of the field, as well as the introduction and installation of new technologies. Special emphasis is placed on theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of signal systems and technologies. VISER was among the first institutions in the Republic of Serbia to introduce a second level of studies - Master Applied Studies. Organized activities within the project have contributed to the improvement of teaching and popularization of the field:

VISER has provided all hardware and software support for this study program. VISER enabled laboratory equipment. In order to increase the availability of equipment, different labs were connected with fast optical connection. Teaching materials have been developed. Some of the materials have resulted in publications of VISER:

32 students were enrolled on the first year of the Master Applied Studies Multimedia Engineering study program in the school year 2017/2018. 24 students were enrolled in the school year 2018/2019. VISER is continuously improving and monitoring the quality of teaching. The results of enrolment, student surveys and quantitative data on student progress justify the introduction of the Multimedia engineering program. Interview with a student of the first generation of master studies Multimedia engineering can be found on the following link:
