Requirements: Content knowledge in the field of ICE.
Goal: Overcoming the basic theory of the combustion process in a spark ignition engine, as well as for application of electronic fuel injection system and the ignition of the mixture in modern spark-ignition engine.
Outcome: Capability of the student to perform diagnostics of electronic systems of petrol engines (fuel injection, ignition of the mixture) and to eliminate the identified malfunction.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Introductory lecture (introduction to the plan and program, goals, outcome and methods).
  2. Formation of the mixture and combustion process/
  3. Fuels and lubricants for gasoline direct injection engines.
  4. Conventional fuel injection system.
  5. Ignition system.
  6. Operational characteristics of engines and their regulation.
  7. Turbocharged and supercharged in gasoline direct injection engines.
  8. Fuel economy.
  9. Ecological aspects of the gasoline direct injection engines.
  10. Noise of the engine.
  11. The impact of direct fuel injection on other engine systems.
  12. Alternative fuels in gasoline direct injection engines (liquefied petroleum gas, compressed natural gas, etc.).
  13. Constriction of the gasoline direct injection engines.
  14. Final considerations and preparation for the written part of the exam.
