Goal:Getting to know advanced techniques and principles in digital communications with an emphasis on techniques used in mobile telecommunication systems.
Outcome:Understanding of signal processing used in digital telecommunications and getting acquainted with GSM and WCDMA standards.

Theoretical instruction:
History, services, requirements, and technical challenges.
Antennas and propagation of electromagnetic waves.
Fading and multipath wave propagation.
Principles of cellular radio networks.
Interference and system capacity. Traffic intensity.
Modulation and demodulation: ASK,PSK, FSK, QAM
Colloquium.
Diversity: time, space and frequency diversity.
Error control codes: principles, block codes, convolutional codes.
