Requirements: Knowledge of basic concepts in the field of measurements and computer engineering.
Goal: The design and development of measuring electronic circuits and systems.
Outcome: Ability to independently solve the problem of designing measuring electronic circuits, devices and systems.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Measurements in spatial-distributed process systems. Telemetry.
  2. Measuring, processing, and transmission of signals.
  3. Basic circuit for analogue and digital processing of measured signals.
  4. Programmability as a property of measuring devices. Programmable measuring circuits, programmable measuring instruments.
  5. Programmable conditioners of measuring signals. Static and dynamic characteristics, structural components, basic types.
  6. Multifunctional programmable measuring instruments and systems.
  7. Programmability and legal metrology.
  8. Microcomputer measuring systems. Functions, architecture, mode and basic characteristics.
  9. Basics of communication in measuring systems
  10. Interfaces in measuring technique. Interfaces for serial data transfer, interfaces for parallel data transfer.
  11. Standards for the interface of programmable measuring devices (GPIB interface).
  12. Personal computer as a controller of measuring system.
  13. SCADA systems. Data transmission standards in remote control systems.
  14. Measurement for billing purposes. Collection and local processing of measured data, remote measurement, standards for remote transfer measured data.
  15. Final considerations. Trends of further professional development.
