Requirements:
Goal: Getting acquainted with devices and circuits used in audio practice. Acquiring practical knowledge related to the mode of operation, selection, installation, adjustment, connection and use of audio devices.
Outcome: Outcome of this course is that students master the knowledge necessary to connect, use, adjust and maintain modern audio devices.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. The basic characteristics, division and purpose of the audio device.
  2. Audio cables and connectors.
  3. Audio mixer - basic concepts.
  4. Audio mixer design.
  5. Audio mixer use.
  6. Audio signal flow in studio environment.
  7. Sound recording and reproduction devices.
  8. Audio dynamics processing: compressors, limiters, expanders and gates.
  9. Filters and equalizers.
  10. Time processing.
  11. Digital audio interfaces.
  12. Audio measurements.
  13. Powering and grounding of audio devices.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Practical work with analog audio mixers.
  2. Practical work with digital audio mixers.
  3. Practical work with dynamic processing devices
  4. Practical work with spectrum processing devices
  5. Practical work with time processing devices
  6. Tracking, measuring and adjusting the audio signal level.
